Australia Study Tour 2012

ISTE is leading its first-ever study tour to Australia! ISTE members are invited to join us and discover how education leaders in this country have recently re-imagined the classroom transformed learning.

As part of the tour, we’ll attend the Australian Council for Computers in Education (ACEC) conference October 2–5 in Perth. Study tour participants are invited to apply to present at the conference. In addition to participating in the conference, we'll visit a variety of schools and educational institutions, learning together as a group. Sightseeing and fun will be included along the way, of course!

    Itinerary

Our list of school explorations spans public, private, and religious schools from early years through higher education. We'll go behind the scenes at some of the nation's top ranked schools, see 21st century learning tools and environments in action, and walk away with countless exciting ideas and real inspiration to take back to your colleagues at home.

Our first week is full primarily with the ACEC conference - a much more intimate event than something such as the ISTE conference. We will get to interact with conference presenters and attendees throughout the week and be treated to several VIP functions. While staying in Perth, we'll take some time out to visit local schools and universities, as well as explore the sights of this beautiful city. Week two takes us through Melbourne and Sydney, where we'll tour several national institutions that shape the educational environment for the whole country such as: Educational Services of Australia; the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership; and the Australian Curriculum, Assessment, and Reporting Authority. We'll move from the big picture to the on-the-ground view with several school tours in each city. And rounding out our time will of course be some wonderful sight-seeing excursions.

Throughout our two weeks together, you'll build long-lasting friendships with your tour colleagues as you share your perspectives from home and learn together. We also expect great outcomes from our interactions and look forward to the partnerships and great ideas that will surely spring up as we explore.
